EDUCATION
Our first step to identify opportunities and challenges for the implementation of genetic testing in autism and developmental disorders was to ask the ASD community directly about their perception and knowledge about genetics, as well as their experience accessing genetic testing within clinical care. Their answers were simultaneously enlightening and sobering, revealing the important work that lied ahead to address barriers for genetic testing at different levels. We were eager to put in place comprehensive strategies to address these challenges, and here we outline several of our efforts for this purpose within clinical care, education, and quality improvement, informed by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research
