PRISMA
PRECISION MEDICINE IN AUTISM
Genetic Testing QI project
This interactive guide provides access to key resources at each step of the genetic testing process, including educational videos, pamphlets, test information, Connect Care instructions, referral forms, and a panel testing overview video.
PRISMA has also developed supplemental resources to support individuals, families, and clinicians throughout the genetic testing process. We encourage you to explore these materials and use the checklist to support pre-test counseling discussions.
Our team is available to assist with genetic testing and provide counseling related to genetic results through our Genomic Psychiatry Consultation Service. If you have questions or would like more information, contact us at prisma@ualberta.ca

Referral Form for Abnormal (Pathogenic) Results
The form used to refer patients with pathogenic genetic findings to the Genomic Psychiatry Consultation Service. It includes patient information, referral details, reasons for referral, and relevant medical history to support clear communication between healthcare providers.

Genetic Testing
Although autism cannot be diagnosed through genetic testing alone, genetic testing can help identify genetic changes associated with autism and neurodevelopmental conditions. This information may help individuals and families better understand their diagnosis and support healthcare planning, medical monitoring, and personalized care
